Rabbit advice online has a quality problem: a lot of it was written once, years ago, and copied between sites ever since without anyone checking it. A few things we've corrected while writing here:
- "Rabbits live 2–3 years." That reflects how rabbits used to be kept. A well-cared-for indoor rabbit typically lives 8–12 years.
- "Pine bedding is dangerous." Half right. The hazard is phenols inraw softwood shavings — kiln-drying removes them, which is why kiln-dried pine pellets are safe and cheap.
- "80% of Easter rabbits die within a year." Not a real statistic. Humane World for Animals traced it and found no study behind it at all.
